IRS Announces Inflation Adjustments to Health Savings Account Limits for 2020
May 28, 2019 - the Internal Revenue Service issued Rev. Prc. 2019-25. This ruling increased the Health Savings Account (HSA) annual contribution limit for self-only coverage to $3,550, an increase of $50 over the 2019 limit of $3,500, for calendar year 2020. The family contribution limit was also increased to $7,100, an increase of $100 from 2019.
In addition, the Section §223 minimum deductible requirement increased to $1,400 for self-only coverage for calendar year 2020, an increase of $50 from 2019, and $2,800 for family coverage, and increase of $100 from 2019.
The annual out-of-pocket expenses may not exceed $6,900 for self-only coverage or $13,800 for family coverage in 2020. Out-of-pocket expenses include deductibles, co-payments and other amounts, but exclude premiums.
