IRS Announces Form 5500 Deadline Extension for Victims of Los Angeles County Wildfires

The IRS has announced the extension of various tax deadlines for taxpayers impacted by the California wildfires, including the extension of deadlines for Form 5500 filing. Form 5500s that were required to be filed on or after January 7, 2025, and before October 15, 2025, are postponed through October 15, 2025 for businesses located in Los Angeles County.

If your business is in the affected area and Flores assists with your Form 5500 filing preparation, your focus can remain on your recovery efforts at this time, and we will be here when you need us; please reach out to our 5500 team with any questions at 5500@flores247.com.

While COBRA deadlines have been extended for individuals impacted by other recent natural disasters, such as hurricanes Helene and Milton, at this time no official guidance has been released regarding COBRA deadline extensions due to these wildfires; if such guidance is released, we will be sure to inform our clients and brokers.
